During the 96-97 Cub year we were fortunate to have assistance of a Canadian Cub Leader and his son in the Pack.
Barry who comes from the Saskatchewan area of Canada joined us while his wife taught for a year at a local school, and he brought many new ideas into the group. During the time he was hear he took a group of five cubs for their Entertainer badge and taught them several sketches and songs which they performed at the Annual General meeting. He also ran an evening based on Canada of which the Cubs really enjoyed.
On this Camp the Scouts built and camped one night in a QUINZHEE or snow house. The Quinzhee is made by building up snow into a big pile, it is then left to melt during the day and in the evening it is hollowed out so that there is a shell of about 18", during the night the snow freezes to leave a hard shell. The inside is then covered with grass and straw. The bottom picture is of a Quinzhee that is about three weeks old.
